New ideastream production explores the latest in cancer research
Public screening on March 27, airs March 30 on WVIZ/PBS

March 15, 2017 (Cleveland) – The search for a cure for cancer has entered a revolutionary new era of precision medicine as experts create personalized treatments based on cancer patients’ unique genetic makeup. Through interviews and vignettes shot in the field, the newest ideastream-produced documentary, Defeating Cancer: Precision Medicine and Personalized Care, spotlights the scientific advances that are improving cancer treatment and leading to a greater understanding of prevention and early detection.

This film will premiere on WVIZ/PBS at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, and the Northeast Ohio community is invited to a screening on Monday, March 27.

  • Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 27. Program begins at 6 p.m.

Hosted by cancer survivor Sharon Osbourne, Defeating Cancer: Precision Medicine and Personalized Care is the powerful story of the most innovative breakthroughs in the ongoing battle against cancer. The one-hour production spans a range of territory and initiatives, including experts in Cleveland, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and New Mexico, reflecting the diverse group of innovators working to advance cancer research.
