Friday, October 16, 2015 (Cleveland, OH) – ideastream, Northeast Ohio Media Group, and The Plain Dealer Publishing Company present Cleveland Connects: The First 2000 Days. Sponsored by PNC, Cleveland Connects: The First 2000 Days will embark on a year-long effort to spotlight childhood development, the factors that can hinder it and why it is a critical issue for Greater Cleveland.

A distinguished panel joins the conversation at the Idea Center at Playhouse Square on Monday, October 19, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., and includes Bill Isler, CEO of The Fred Rogers Company; Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., Ed.D, Superintendent of the Shaker Heights City School District; Katie Kelly, Director of PRE4CLE; and Robert Needlman, MD, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve Medical School. Moderated by Mike McIntyre, the host for The Sound of Ideas on 90.3 WCPN ideastream, the panel will explore the importance of early brain development and the ways, including preschool, that can impact a child in those critical first five years.

Open to the public, the community can participate by registering here. In addition, Cleveland Connects: The First 2000 Days will be live-streamed on ideastream.org. Follow the event on Twitter with hashtag #cleconnects or email connects@ideastream.org. This program will be recorded for broadcast that evening, October 19, on 90.3 WCPN at 7:30-9:00pm, on WVIZ/PBS at 8:00-9:30pm, and on The Ohio Channel on Tuesday, October 20 at 9:30-11:00pm. This program will also be available on-demand at ideastream.org on Tuesday afternoon, October 20.

Cleveland Connects presents engaging dialogue, community events, and multiple media coverage with the goal of illuminating and advancing solutions on topics important to our region. Topics for each Cleveland Connects will focus on key issues facing the region as identified by The Plain Dealer’s editorial agenda and results of ideastream’s The Listening Project, an annual effort by ideastream to identify the things that matter most to residents of Northeast Ohio.
