Donald Trump stayed on script at Youngstown State University on Monday when he laid out his plan for fighting what he calls “radical Islam."
ideastream’s Darrielle Snipes attended the speech and has more on what the Republican presidential nominee plans to do if elected.
During the nearly hour-long speech, Donald Trump blamed President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for the rise in terrorist attacks around the world since he took office and she was Secretary of State.
“She lacks the judgement, stability and character to lead our nation,” he said. “She also lacks the mentality to take on ISIS.”
Trump also says he wants A new immigration policy that uses “extreme vetting” and he says people who don’t believe in the Constitution should not be allowed into the country.
David Jones of Dellroy, Ohio, was one of more than a hundred people at the invitation-only speech. He hopes Trump can follow through on his proposed policies.
“I liked the immigration part and getting tougher on it,” Jones said. “And just not letting anyone in and giving the people who control the immigration the power to stop it, which I think they have been hindered on a little bit.”
The audience responded to Trump with applause and chants of U-S-A.
