Hundreds Arrested In Ohio Drug Enforcement Operation

Hundreds of people have been arrested in recent weeks during a series of drug raids around the state. Statehouse reporter Andy Chow has more.

A coalition of law enforcement and drug enforcement experts put more than 400 people behind bars and confiscated drugs worth up to $5 million after carrying out several drug sweeps.

While announcing the latest statistics, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in his decades of service the state is experiencing the worst drug epidemic he's ever seen.

According to DeWine, the work of law enforcement task forces with these sweeps play a vital role in the war on drugs.

"Keeping the pressure on the drug dealers, removing drugs from the state and removing cash that was the product of these drugs," said DeWine.

Of the 400 arrests more than half were heroin-related charges. Another 140 charges involved cocaine.
