A new poll shows good and bad news for Gov. John Kasich's unofficial presidential campaign. Our Statehouse correspondent Karen Kasler reports.
The Quinnipiac poll in Ohio shows Kasich beats likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by seven points, and is the only possible Republican candidate to defeat her in Ohio.
Pollster Peter Brown says the reason is clear from previous polls - Ohioans like Kasich.
"He's been elected twice, he won his last election in a landslide. And he's very favorably regarded by voters," said Brown. "By two to one margin, they have a favorable view of him, and that's quite good."
But outside of Ohio, Kasich doesn't perform as well.
The Quinnipiac poll found seven in ten voters in Florida and Pennsylvania hadn't heard of him - which puts Kasich's name recognition behind every other Republican candidate in the poll.
