Gov. John Kasich's task force studying police and community relations has released its recommendations, and the governor issued an executive order to help carry them out. Statehouse reporter Jo Ingles has more.

Kasich has created an advisory board to come up with new standards for police departments statewide on issues like deadly force and hiring practices. The board is also charged with helping communities throughout the state better understand the role of law enforcement.
"We don't want to have people in the streets, burning buildings, hating one another. We have to do this. It has to work and it will work because we are all going to be in there together," Kasich says.
Kasich says the board will take a look at similar recommendations made by another task force commissioned by Attorney General Mike DeWine. But Ohio Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Mike Weinman says a "one-size-fits-all" standard might not work for all communities. And he's concerned that the cost and the source of the funding to pay for the recommendations hasn't been determined.
