Is AG Delay Just Tactic?

Marcia Fudge - (D) Cleveland

President Obama nominated Lynch four months ago, and a vote had been expected this week. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced a delay, saying the Senate must deal first with a human trafficking bill that now includes controversial anti-abortion language.

Fudge says it's part of a pattern of obstructionism by Republicans.

"The language that they inserted into the bill is not germane to the child-trafficking bill. Nor is it germane to the discussion at all. So why should Democrats be held hostage because of their ideology when in fact we were willing partners on a child trafficking bill? And so what Mitch McConnell has now done is said, 'Since I can't have what I want, I'm not going to let you have anything?"

Ohio GOP Sen. Rob Portman's office says he has not yet decided how he'll vote on the Lynch nomination.
