If you bet on Cleveland’s Horseshoe Casino for the win, you picked right.
Stats from the Ohio Casino Control Commission shows that gaming facility made just over $20 million last month, compared to $17.5 million for February 2014.
For casinos in Toledo, Columbus, and Cincinnati, the monthly revenue figures were all down from the year before. The drops range from $30,000 to about $1 million.
Overall, the four, voter-approved casinos raked in about $67 million last month. That was up just slightly over the same period last year.
The state collects about one-third of the revenues in taxes and distributes the money to counties, school districts, host cities and other entities.
Critics say the casinos have failed to deliver on original promises made when voters approved them in 2009. Backers say the money still helps municipalities cover important expenses and improvements, even if short of original projections.
