Gov. John Kasich’s first push for Medicaid expansion caused a rift among his fellow Republicans and ended with approval by the Controlling Board -- a legislative panel.
While addressing the media for the first time as speaker, Cliff Rosenberger of Clarksville in southwest Ohio didn’t say much about Medicaid expansion, but noted that he had been a member of that board until the issue came up.
"Well I think I got kicked off Controlling Board, so people know my stance on Medicaid expansion," Rosenberger said.
Asked if that meant his stance against Medicaid expansion remains the same, he replied yes.
Kasich has said he wants the state to continue Medicaid expansion, but some suspect it might be moved off his budget, which is expected to be released in February.
