Deshanon Haywood convicted in Akron Quadruple Murder Case

A Summit County jury found Deshanon Haywood guilty of 13 counts of aggravated murder in the drug-related slayings of Ronald Roberts, Kem Delaney, Maria Nash and Kiana Welch in an Akron home in April 2013.

Haywood was also convicted on seven of nine other charges, including kidnapping and robbery. The jury returned the verdicts after two days of deliberations.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys declined to comment on the convictions pending a sentencing decision. That phase of Haywood’s trial begins October 14th.

Prosecutors say Haywood was complicit in the execution-style murders. He could face the death penalty. A jury declined that option for the shooter, Derrick Brantley, who was convicted in June. He is serving four consecutive life sentences.
