The Capital Square Review and Advisory Board is making $31,500 available in grants Sept. 17. The agency's Luke Stedke said a total of 105 grants will be awarded in three categories.
"One mile to 50 miles gets $200. Fifty-one miles to 100 miles gets $300," he said. "And then 101 miles plus gets $400, and those monies go to transportation costs that these schools incur."
Stedke said the grants go fast. The online-only application process opens Sept. 17th at 9 a.m. and he expects they'll be gone within minutes. In the last six years, Stedke said 70,000 students from all 88 counties have visited the Statehouse with funding from this program, which gets funding from Honda of America and the Walmart Foundation.
