The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows only 36 percent of registered Ohio voters surveyed approve of the way President Obama is doing his job. And 59 of those who responded say they disapprove of Obama’s job performance.
That’s close to his all-time low score in any of the nine states surveyed by Quinnipiac.
Democrats overwhelmingly approve of Obama’s performance and Republicans nearly unanimously disapprove. But by a two-to-one margin, independents surveyed say they disapprove of the way the president is running the country.
But it’s not all bad news for Democrats, as 52 percent of Ohioans surveyed say they would support Democrat Hillary Clinton if she ran for president over the other possible Republican candidates, including incumbent Gov. John Kasich. He’s been mentioned by some pundits as a possible presidential contender, but this poll shows Clinton would beat Kasich in a head-to-head matchup in Ohio right now, 47 percent to 40 percent.
