A push to freeze Ohio’s energy standards law has been a hot-button topic in the legislature for more than a year and a half. It passed the Senate in a late-night vote two weeks ago. Now it’s possible the bill could hit the House floor on Wednesday.
But there’s word that lawmakers may attach some changes to the legislation which could force the Senate and House to meet for a conference committee on the bill.
Revamping Ohio’s severance tax is another contentious issue that returns to the Statehouse. This time the Senate will hold meetings on the bill to raise the tax on oil and natural gas drilling.
A House committee is also scheduled to hold a vote on a bill that would force drivers to leave at least three feet between their vehicle and a bike while passing a cyclist.
And the Senate’s bill to allow electronic tolling at Cincinnati’s Brent Spence Bridge, which connects Ohio to Kentucky, is scheduled for a possible vote. The House passed its version already.
