Campaign finance reports show Republican incumbent John Kasich has $8.5 million in the bank, having raised more than $2 million so far this year. At the same time, Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald has brought in $662,000 dollars, bringing his total on hand to $1.5 million.
That continues the 5-1 money lead that Kasich had in the last reporting period at the end of January.
The second biggest money race is for treasurer. State. Rep. Connie Pillich nearly kept pace with incumbent Josh Mandel, but with $2.4 million on hand, he has twice as much money as she does.
The third biggest race is for attorney general, and David Pepper outraised incumbent Mike Dewine.
State Sen. Nina Turner outraised Secretary of State Jon Husted and State Rep. John Carney brought in more money than Auditor David Yost.
But in all the statewide contests, the Republican incumbents have more money on hand.
