Direct from Israel, eleven deaf-blind actors offer a magical tour of their personal inner worlds including darkness, silence, hopes, memories, dreams and bread. A group of people who are creative, self-sufficient and joyful. Living between reality and fantasy, grandeur and ridicule, and always retuning to the basic meaning of bread; a symbol of home.
Rehearsals for the show lasted two years of which many months were spent studying the process of bread-making and adapting the length of the play to the exact duration of cooking and baking. In turn, creating a time unit common to the actors and audience. As the bread making unfolds on stage – the dough is kneaded, raised and baked “for real” and a special encounter occurs between stage and spectators.
The “Nalaga’at” deaf-blind acting ensemble offers an artistic and human experience, emphasizing the importance of physical touch and relationships. Promoting universal values of solidarity, mutual respect, tolerance and coexistence.
