Husted disqualified Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Charlie Earl, his running mate Sherry Clark and attorney general candidate Steve Linnabary, saying petition signatures gathered by two workers were invalid because the workers didn't identify their employers.
Husted based his decision on an 18-page recommendation by Bradley A. Smith, who heard the complaints against the candidates.
Smith wrote that state law required two petition circulators to disclose their employer on their petitions -- even though they were working as independent contractors. Without the signatures from these two circulators, Earl, Clark and Linnarabary don't have enough to appear on this year's ballot.
