At least for now, Arthur's death certificate will read that he was married and list his surviving spouse. A judge will decide in December whether to issue a permanent injunction.
"We will study the ruling that comes out and determine what the next steps are," Gerhardstein told Ohio Public Radio member station WVXU. "Because obviously we want gay marriage recognized for all purposes in Ohio, and this is the first step."
Gerhardstein calls Arthur a crusader for marriage equality. Ohio is urging the court to put the brakes on an issue that could take years to settle.
