In this little tour of the site, we'll mostly focus on the features that have always been popular: the weekly schedule; what's on the air now; listening live to the Internet audio stream; program highlights, what music was played, the Arts Calendar, and the Choice CD of the Day.
But the best way for you to get to know the new site is just to click around and discover what's here. Pretty soon you'll be feeling right at home. And speaking of home, let's start with the Home Page.
WCLV's New Home Page
The gray "header" provides an opportunity to explore both WCLV's site and those of our sister stations, 90.3 WCPN and WVIZ/PBS. You can explore programming highlights for all three stations; check out weekly schedules; watch video of "Broadway Buzz" segments and a host of programs from ideastream and PBS; learn about ideastream's very active education department activities and programs; catch up on local and regional news features reported by ideastream's news and StateImpact teams; and learn about the various ways you can support your favorite public broadcasters.
Below the Cleveland skyline banner, WCLV's Home Page is divided into three columns. The left column features WCLV Notes, the right features national stories about the arts. The middle column contains links to many of the most popular features on the website. The Program Guide displays programming highlights for the day along with the Choice CD of the Day. If you want to find out what you heard yesterday, click on Program Guide. From the Program Guide page, you'll have an option of clicking on the Previous Day tab. There you'll find detailed information about everything we aired. If you're not exactly sure what day you heard that piece you liked, you can click on Previous Day, Next Day, or Archive to access all Program Pages for any given month. On the Air Now will let you know what program is on the air and what piece we're playing. NOTE: This feature is coming soon! Clicking on "full schedule" will take you to the weekly schedule with links to information about each program including, in some cases, complete program listings. There's also an option to listen live to the Internet audio stream.
The highlights section showcases some ongoing programs of high interest - such as weekly Cleveland Orchestra broadcasts - along with special features such as The Big Work at One. Clicking on the Cleveland Orchestra image will take you to a page that contains an opportunity to listen to concerts on demand. Additional on-demand listening options - interviews, Jubilation 2013, etc. - are coming very soon!
Beneath the highlights section, you'll find links to articles about other WCLV features. At the bottom of each article, there's not only an opportunity to comment about it or to send it to friends via email, you can also tweet about it with one click.
To the right of the features is a link to ArkivMusik, where you can purchase many of the CDs we play each day. Below that, you'll find a few Arts Calendar items with access to complete Arts Calendar listings. Scroll further down for an opportunity to join others in the community who interact with WCLV via social media. It's quick and easy to register on Facebook and find out who else likes the station and what they're saying about our programming.
Now we've reached footer of the Home Page. It contains additional links to much of the information outlined above, along with links to information about underwriting, volunteering, job postings, etc. There's a lot of great information there, so don't overlook it.
