Waves And Wind Drive Lake Erie, As Hurricane Sandy Advances

"The waves...are really smacking hard against the rocks. Big, big, choppy waves. There's ah...hundreds and hundreds of seagulls floating, almost seemingly motionless in the air because of the high winds.

"A good number of cars here, from people who are storm watchers. The waves are extremely high. I'd say maybe close to 10-15 feet high sometimes. And the rain is coming down pretty relentlessly. Not hard, driving rain but it makes visibility very difficult, and traction very slippery.

"So I think with the winds picking up, a number of people are leaving, but the winds are intense, the waves are high, and it is getting bitterly cold out there. So it does like the storm activity is picking up.
