At mid-afternoon Thursday the television monitor came to life in the media room one floor down from Judge Sara Lioi's courtroom. Reporters who have been waiting patiently while the jury determines Dimora's fate hoped a verdict was finally reached, but it turned out the jury just had a question about just what constitutes "other income" on federal tax forms. the monitor again went dark, and at about twenty to five we were told the jury had adjourned for the day.
By most accounts, these jury deliberations are extraordinarily lengthy. Some say the complexity of the laws Dimora allegedly broke and the preponderance of evidence presented by prosecutors are possible reasons. Another could be a failure of jurors to reach a consensus on any number of 37 counts brought against him and co-defendant Michael Gabor, Dimora's long-time friend, confidant and former driver.
Jurors return to the court Friday.
