Over the next three weeks WCPN is going to highlight a few selected items from 2011 that also had some positive effect insustaining or expanding some part of the state's economy.
We start today with the race to develop oil and natural gas deposits in eastern parts of the state...the Utica Shale region. So-called "landmen," were busy signing up Ohioans interested in leasing their mineral rights to huge companies like Exxon Mobil, Hess or Chesapeake Energy.
All that legal work gets filed in county court houses, making this "a good year for" recorders -- the county workers who "record" all those transactions. under the auspices of the recorders.
