In a room packed with opponents of Issue 2, strong advocates for each side pointed fingers at each other in heated argument over the wisdom of Ohio's new collective bargaining law. At times even the moderator had trouble maintaining control. Monday's City Club debate in Cleveland pitted former Cincinnati city councilman Jeff Berding, a backer of the law, against former Congressman Dennis Eckart, an opponent. Not only did they dispute the merits, they couldn't agree on most of the facts of current public employee working conditions or how the new law would change things.
