Changing Gears: appearance on Oprah gives businesses national platform

Oprah Winfrey wraps up the 25 year run of her internationally known syndicated talk show today. Over the years, the show and its famous host have influenced politics, literacy, and hundreds of small businesses who have been selected by the celebrity as one of her “Favorite Things”. That Oprah opportunity has been extended to companies as small as Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor to KFC. To find out what happened to those businesses years after Oprah’s spotlight has left, Changing Gears reporter Niala Boodhoo starts her story in the west suburbs of Chicago, in a town called Geneva.
