Democrats say President Obama deserves credit for going ahead with the Chrysler bailout, which was blasted by several Republicans who now hope to run against Obama next year. And former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland says they should be asked about that when they come campaigning to Ohio.
"What are they going to say when they appear here in Ohio to ask for the votes of the people? I think their positions are indefensible."
Strickland also says the man who beat him last November, Republican Gov. John Kasich, expressed what he called "negative attitudes" about the Chrysler bailout. Kasich had little to say about that:
"Here's what I think about Chrysler. I'm glad that Bob Kitter is the chairman. I'm glad that he has ties to Ohio. And I want him to make more investment in our state."
Strickland says the Chrysler bailout resulted in 6,000 jobs related to the auto industry being added in Ohio between March 2010 and 2011.
