Poll: Majority of Ohioans Want to Repeal SB5

The poll by Quinnipiac University finds that by a margin of 54 percent to 36 percent Ohio voters want the law wiped out. Unions have argued the law takes away most of their power to bargain on behalf of teachers, prison guards, police, firefighters and other government workers. Unions and their allies are now trying to collect enough petition signatures to put the law on the ballot so voters can have a shot at killing it. Voters questioned by pollsters say they oppose the law's provisions outlawing strikes and preventing unions from negotiating on health care. Majorities actually support other parts: basing pay hikes on merit and requiring workers to pay at least 15 percent of their health care premiums Still at the moment, the majority wants the law repealed.
