Marie Kilbane of the Ohio Lottery Commission says that last year, the lottery generated more than 728 million dollars in profits for schools. That was the second highest amount in state history. Kilbane stresses, though, that lottery profits still make up onnly about 4% of total education funding. The overwhelming bulk of school money comes from state income and sales taxes......and from local property taxes.
