The drug that Ohio uses to execute inmates is becoming even more scarce. The sole American manufacturer of the drug says it won't produce it anymore. Some states have reported shortages of the drug. Carlo LaParo, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections says he can't comment on the long term effects of the shortage.
Some states are already looking at adopting new protocols for lethal injections. The drug Ohio uses for lethal injections is used in 34 of the 35 states that use that process for executing inmates.
