Earlier, she served for nearly a decade as a judge in Franklin County Juvenile Court. In recent years, she has headed a group that tries to prevent child abuse and family violence. Brown’s resume notes that she had to overcome many obstacles to get where she’s at --- for example, she was born to a single teenager mother, who had to work two jobs to support the family. When Brown takes her seat on the court next month, she will become the first African American woman to be an ohio supreme court justice.
