The head of Ohio's department of aging has handed in her resignation. Barbara Riley has worked in various capacities of state government for 20 years. She's helped served Ohio's poorest residents through work in the Department of Job and Family Services and most recently, served Ohio's oldest residents in her current role. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Riley explains she's announcing her resignation now--before incoming Governor Kasich appoints her replacement.
Riley says she wants to work from the outside to help people understand things that are currently not widely understood--like health reform or issues facing aging Ohioans.
