At this morning's County Commissioners meeting, Reines accepted the post.
He is not a certified public accountant, but holds a master's degree in business from Cleveland State University, and worked for Cuyahoga County for 26 years.
Until resigning Friday, he served as chief development officer for the nonprofit Center for Families and Children.
Reines has previously worked as a Vice President for both the Greater Cleveland United Way, and for Cuyahoga Community College. He left the county administrator post in 2004.
Former auditor Frank Russo resigned September 9, after allegations of corruption including bribery were filed against him by the U.S. Attorney's office.
Because of the county reforms approved by voters last year, the elected County Auditor's office will be eliminated in January 2011.
