Gov. Ted Strickland has appointed a new public safety director, now that the Republican-led Senate has rejected the director who's been doing that job for the last eight months. That includes the period during which a plan to drop contraband at the Governor's Residence was called off - which prompted a scathing report by the Inspector General that Democrats dispute.
