REPUBLICAN CHAIR ROB FROST: "Yes Commissioner Dimora - the Republicans are out to get you... but it's because you're corrupt, not because you're a Democrat."
Rob Frost's first words were not just responding to Jimmy Dimora's Monday evening diatribe - but a promise of what Frost says is ahead, as he announced a complicated campaign to unseat the three term Democrat.
There is no recall vote for a commissioner, as for other elected officials, so, forcing Dimora out would begin with drafting a complaint listing: cause for removal... obtaining 68,000 legitimate signatures from Cuyahoga County residents... and having the complaint heard by a common pleas judge.
The judge would decide whether to subject Dimora to a trial by jury, and the jury --- not voters --- would decide if removal was proper in this case.
There is no time frame for the collection of signatures to start any removal process, but Frost says it will likely be a matter of a few weeks, not months.
A high bar to cross - but Frost says he already has people ready to begin the process.
And not just Republicans.
FROST: "We very much are developing bi-partisan support, people saying that they are a lifelong Democratic, and they want to work with us on this."
Frost used the opportunity to also challenge the Cuyahoga County prosecutor for what he termed 'shielding' recently requested records from the county auditor's office, and said voters should act now to demand transparency in: government financing... the use of executive session meetings by leadership... and in the bidding of public contracts.
