The embattled County Commissioner will reportedly step aside July first, and be replaced by current vice chair, and Cleveland City Countil Clerk, Patt Britt.
Speculation is that Dimora removed himself from the position because of the ongoing federal corruption probe in county government, but neither he, nor Britt has made an official statement this morning.
We have talked with party executive director Mary Devring, who stressed the temporary nature of the chairman's decision, and with the office of US Representative Marcia Fudge, who will have a statement later this afternoon. She has actively pushed for DImora to resign his seat on the Cuyahoga County Comission,
Dimora has been the leader of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party since 1994, and a county commmissioner since 1998, capping 35 years of public service.
Possible allegations against Dimora have not been specified, as the investigation by the F.B.I goes forward.
