Late last month the National Academy of Science issued a report that calls for sweeping changes in the practice of forensic science. It said the current way crime evidence is collected and analyzed - blood splatters, hair samples, fingerprints and so on - is questionable at best. DNA samples, however, did not come under fire in the Academy's report. Today in Cleveland the discussion that report launched gets a full airing at a forum on the future of forensics. The National Academy of Science will be represented, the FBI and others. It runs from 12:30 this afternoon until this evening at CSU. Hosting the event is Cleveland State University's Marshall College of Law, where Geoffrey Mearns is dean. He spoke with ideastream®s Rick Jackson.
