Northeast Ohioans Ready to Party for Obama

Cleveland event planner Sherri Foxman is excited to bid adieu to the Bush administration.

Foxman: "I'm the secretary of change!"

The founder and CEO of Party 411 is holding The "Toodle-oo 'W' and Howdy-do Obama" Inaugural Ball on Tuesday night. The party, to be held at Sammy's at Legacy Village, will feature karaoke, dancing and a buffet. Foxman even plans to bust out her Hillary Clinton impersonation! She says about 425 people are attending the sold out event.

Foxman: "It just really struck a chord with people. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll know to book a bigger venue."

Rosalyn Ellis expects about 150 people next Saturday at a party put on by The Canton Negro Oldtimers Ladies Auxiliary – a group that’s been around since 1960. Ellis - the group’s president - says it's important to get together and reflect on America's progress.

Ellis: "We're doing this as a celebration of making history for our ancestors who paved the way for us to have the right to vote. Plus, with Martin Luther King that week, it’s going to be fun."

On Saturday, the Wayne County Democrats hosted a Pre-Inaugural Chili and Bean Soup Supper complete with a "Send him back to Texas" sheet cake. County Chair Jean Mohr said she ruled out holding the party on Tuesday because she doesn't want anyone bothering her during Obama's big moment.

Mohr: "I'm going to be perched right in front of the TV, front and center. I don't want any interruptions, I want to concentrate on the whole thing myself."
