Nine years ago was the last time the National Figure Skating Championships were held in Cleveland. At that time the sport was near its peak of popularity and some of the most coveted events were standing room only. This year admission to the top events costs $145 and it seems fewer people are willing to pay that price. Marilyn Piety is a philosophy professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia and she specializes in the philosophy of sport. She says the drop in fans may be due in part to changes in how the sport is scored.
