A three-and-a-half foot pipe ruptured early this morning, flooding nearby streets and buildings. County offices in the city were closed as a result.
The Cleveland water division tells 90.3 that buildings as far east as east 90th street are impacted. The problem extends much further on the west side -- including Lakewood and parts of Rocky River.
Many hospitals are impacted -- Metrohealth Medical Center has closed its emergency department. The Clinic is running as normal, although it's been forced to bring in alternative water supplies. University Hospitals has NOT been impacted and is preparing to accept patients from other hospitals if that becomes necessary.
