It's a troublesome time in the newspaper business. Faced with mounting online competition, many papers are looking to shed costs. In Cleveland, the Plain Dealer is embarking on another round of buyouts. 50 newsroom jobs will be going away before the end of the year. For this week's edition of upside/downside, we consider the future of the newspaper business. The plain dealer is hardly alone when it comes to layoffs. Nearly two-thirds of the top 100 papers in this country have shed jobs in the past year. ideastream®'s Eric Wellman speaks with analyst Lauren Rich Fine.
