Commodity Prices Are in the Dumps

One of the silver linings of this economic downturn we're in is the price of gas. It's been nice to fill up the tank for less than $20. Oil is a commodity and the price of commodities has been tumbling since late summer. And yes, that makes filling up at the pump less painful. But falling commodity prices has real downside. The things you recycle, be they plastic, aluminum or glass, aren't worth what they were just a few months ago. That means communities are shouldering more of the cost of recycling. ideastream®'s Eric Wellman spoke with Patrick Holland, director of the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District.
