Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said the election of Barack Obama came about because the policies of past Republican Presidential administrations hurt everyone, not just people in the cities.
Mayor Jackson: "The more and more people who suffer from the ills of the operation of our society, then more and more people who are willing to make change. Now what you have is you have a broader group of people, and It's crossed racial lines, it's crossed gender lines, it's crossed income lines...it's crossed all the lines. It is a suffering that everyone shares, so the outcome they want, they share too. They want a better life, not only for themselves...People do not see a future for their children, and that is a very troubling thing."
Jackson said he's confident that Obama will institute policies that will help Cleveland and other urban areas of the country do better.
