Governor Asks ODOT to Investigate Rising Road Salt Prices

Governor Strickland's office has asked the Ohio Department of Transportation to investigate surging prices for road salt. Prices skyrocketed after supplies were depleted by a bad winter last winter. Some cities report they're paying nearly twice what they paid last year.

Some communities talking about using less salt this winter, or mixing salt with cheaper alternatives like sand.

This morning the Plain Dealer reported that some communities are considering importing salt from other countries.
