GOP calls for commissioners to release records

The demand from the GOP is that Commissioners Tim Hagan and Peter Lawson Jones, who are NOT under investigation, release their personal financial records to the public.

Calling it a step toward repairing public confidence, Republican spokesman Rob Frost said the public needs reassurance.

Rob Frost: "Commissioners who are not under investigation need to take the affirmative step and start to mend the breach of the public trust that was created when we saw FBI agents swarming on our county administration building. We need to start to restore confidence in government."

Frost says openness on what gifts and contributions the commissioners have received would go a long way toward rebuilding that confidence.

The current joint FBI and IRS investigation into possible contract irregularities has centered on Commissioner Jimmy Dimora, and County Auditor Frank Russo.

Earlier this week, Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones called for an internal investigation into several matters.

Our repeated calls to several county offices today, seeking a response to the Republican demand -- were not returned.
