Kucinich Camp Defends Investigation Into Cimperman

Cleveland Councilman Joe Cimperman was questioned by a Department of Homeland Security agent after he paid a visit to Dennis Kucinich’s office – with a cameraman in tow.

Kucinich’s office says Cimperman violated federal law by videotaping his delivery of a wanted poster to the office on January 3. Martin Gelfand, Kucinich’s congressional senior attorney, said on 90.3 that the filming of constituents hinders their privacy.

Martin Gelfand: If Mr. Cimperman or anyone else had gone into the Social Security office two blocks away, and started filming they would be kicked out. The police would come to them.

Gelfand says the office DOES allow cameras with advance permission.

Cimperman says calling in the feds was just a waste of taxpayer money.

Joe Cimperman: For him to send the federal police to find me and waste taxpayer dollars because I politely dropped off a missing in action flyer is just the height of hypocrisy.

A video of Cimperman’s visit is available on YouTube.com.
