The Hillary Clinton campaign here has no bosses on the ground yet, but there's lots of work to do, says Jim Ruvolo, the candidate's Ohio delegate coordinator.
Ruvolo: "People who come down, we're asking them to take assignments, to coordinate speakers bureaus, to be a speaker, to do phone calling, to go door to door, to write letters to the editor."
The meeting is being organized by Ruvolo, who was leader of the Ohio Democratic Party through most of the 1980s. He's been circulating an invitation on the internet that boasts some Democrat heavyweights will be in attendance -- including Governor Ted Strickland."
Ruvolo: "The governor, who is our most prominent speaker in the state, along with Stephanie Tubbs Jones wanted to do an organizational meeting. Because the campaign is obviously focused on the states before Ohio, but that doesn't mean we can sit on our hands and wait."
Saturday's meeting is being held at United Steel Workers Hall 2173 in Columbus, but a USW representative says it's not a union event. The Steelworkers endorsed former senator John Edwards for president last September.
