In his email announcing that Myers will be closing its doors in two weeks, President Richard Scaldini called this a tragic moment for the Myers community. Scaldini came on board 15 months ago with a mandate to turn around the business school that had been struggling since a previous president launched an overly-ambitious expansion plan.
Scaldini had tried to sell the school, but he said the deal fell through at the eleventh hour. Whether the campus or school will be sold in the future is unclear. Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut, who had a monitor on site, says his office has been working to make sure students get the credits they paid for this semester.
FINGERHUT: And now, the next step is to make sure the students continue their education by transferring to other institutions and we're going to be very engaged with the students to make sure they can do that.
Myers has vowed to help its students as well. The University plans to hold a transfer fair in mid-December. In his email, President Scaldini thanked Myers students for supporting the school through its trying times.
