In Cuyahoga County 204,379 votes were cast, according to the official count. About 22 percent of the absentee or provisional ballots were rejected for voter errors, including missing or improper identification.
But 195 votes on that list were reinstated when the problems turned out to be poll worker error. Betty Grant Edwards, who prepared the report, says those voters were given optical scan ballots with the wrong code because there was trouble with some machines in Seven Hills.
Edwards: "When the polls initially opened we got calls down here at the board that precinct A did not have enough ballots, so they loaned ballots from another precinct at the location."
There will be five automatic recounts Monday. Those races include selection of Bedford Heights charter review commission members, council races in Olmsted Falls and North Royalton and board of education seats in Solon and Strongsville.
