With just seconds left on the clock, the Browns trailed 30 to 27, and a Josh Cribbs kickoff return put the Browns just inside field goal range. Phil Dawson kicked for 51 yards. He had the distance, but the ball met an upright and the crossbar support before bouncing ending up in the end zone, appearing to have missed. That was the call of one field official, and that sent the Ravens off the field. After discussion with other field officials, however, Referee Pete Morelli reversed the call, and declared the ball had, in fact, crossed the plane. That sent the game into overtime.
And overtime put yet another kick off into Josh Cribbs' hands. He put the Browns on the Ravens' 41 yard line. It wasn't long before Phil Dawson was back, this time with a 39 yard kick that sealed the deal for Cleveland.
The Browns are 6 and 4 and in second place in their division. They face the 5 and 5 Houston Oilers next Sunday.
