Plusquellic was one of a dozen mayors who went to Washington to offer Pelosi a preview of a 10-point plan to boost struggling cities. The U.S. Conference of Mayors' plan includes ways to improve funding for energy alternatives, public housing, and community development.
Plusquellic says block funding for city projects that offer affordable housing and improved safety forces has dropped significantly in the last few years. He says the group urged Speaker Pelosi to help restore community block grant funding to previous levels.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors will make a formal presentation of the plan at a meeting in Washington later this month.
