Medical Innovation Summit at Clinic

Over 800 entrepreneurs, clinicians and venture capitalists are expected to attend the three-day summit hosted by Cleveland Clinic Innovations. Executive Director Chris Coburn says the event has drawn international interest because the innovations market is growing so rapidly.

Chris Coburn: You have innovation occurring in almost every field of medicine at a rate it's never occurred at before.

Coburn says there's special interest in neuroscience. During the summit, a new stroke prevention device, a brain stent, will be on display. Similar to stents used to treat heart blockages, this stent helps keep clear vessels in the brain. Also on display, an implanted brain device used to halt the tremors of Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor Disorder. Elaine Falk, 90.3.
