The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections website states that residents must register to vote at least 30 days before an election to be eligible. But Board of Elections spokeswoman Jane Platten says voters actually have until this Tuesday at 9:00 PM to register. That's only 28 days before the November 7th election. The state Attorney General's office confirms the October 10th deadline.
Platten says at this late juncture voters are urged to bring their registration directly to the Elections Board's central office to ensure it's processed. She says those who have moved since the last time they voted must re-register to reflect their correct address - but that need not be reflected on their driver's license.
Jane Platten: When they go to their polling location on November 7 they will be asked for an identification. And even if they have their old address on their valid drivers license or state ID, it's still a valid form of identification.
